Recovery education is designed to provide: skills, tools, shared ideas and experiences, which can help individuals to take charge of their life and maintain happiness and everyday wellbeing.
Recovery Principles and Skills
This course is for people who wish to gain understanding, skills and strategies of recovering from a mental illness. The training focuses on how to maintain wellness when you have a mental illness, and will cover the following topics:
Week 1: PERSONAL MEANING
Developing a personal understanding of the experience of mental illness.
Week 2: PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY
Being actively involved in, and responsible for, your own recovery process.
Week 3: SELF ADVOCACY
This involves finding your voice again.
Week 4: EDUCATION
Empowerment through learning what interests YOU and your enjoyment in doing what could evolve into employment.
Week 5: SUPPORT
Building and maintaining a healthy support network around you.
Week 6: HOPE
Hope is about looking to the future and realizing what would be fulfilling and rewarding for YOU.
