Consumer Recovery Advisor

Progress to Health is looking to employ staff to work a range of hours (part time) with the Mental Health and Addictions service (MHAS) of the Waikato District Health Board (WDHB) to provide operational and strategic advice based on peer values and recovery principles, and to ensure the voices of people who experience mental illness and addiction influence the direction of the services.

The consumer recovery advisor provides support from a lived experience perspective via assigned tasks and programmes such as:

· Contribute to works force recruitment / interviews
· Consumer satisfaction surveys
· Specialty clinical governance forums
· Post seclusion debrief interviews
· Workforce development training and education

Even though the consumer recovery advisors are employed by Progress to Health, their workplace will in main be at the Waikato Hospital under the guidance of the Consumer Development Advisor or MHAS management staff.

Ideally we’re looking for someone who reflects our values and strategic direction and who brings to the position a professional work ethic, relevant qualification and or experience, a personal experience as a consumer of mental health services, be confident presenting a perspective that may challenge others, an ability to identify and utilise opportunities to promote a consumer focus and recovery perspective and who is able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
